4 Ways How Leaders Help Others To Grow

A leader’s most imperative human resource-related activity is bringing out the best in other people. Of course, this requires the leaders to be fully confident and once the leaders are aware of themselves, the next step is to help others do it as well.

Here are 4 ways through which leaders can empower others.

1- Evaluate Them Cautiously 

The very first in empowering someone is to analyze their capabilities fully. Giving too much responsibility to inexperienced people or not entrusting power to those who are capable are both performance deterring. Everyone wants to succeed but at their own pace. Leaders need to analyze their pace and worth and accordingly equip them so they benefit the organization and themselves.  

 

2- Be Their Role Model

Leaders also have to teach their followers how to lead. And what is the best way than to serve as an example? Even the most expert individuals need an example. A leader should be the picture of the standards and ethics he/she expects the followers to be.

 

3- Believe in Them

A leader’s biggest challenge is to make people believe in themselves and their success. No one knows what a leader thinks; instead, they expect their leader to voice his belief in a person. Leaders need to reinforce their belief in their followers constantly. This also includes publicly praising them for boosting their morale. Once people know a leader believes in them, they will try to accomplish their leader’s vision.

 

4- Offer Feedback

A leader’s honest and positive feedback is the best reinforcement an employee can get. A leader’s responsibility is to guide people through mistakes and offer advice against misjudgments. A leader is like a coach or a mentor for their followers and should regularly provide feedback, though it should not feel like criticism. The emotion of empathy and compassion should always remain.

Empowering other people offers multifold benefits as the leader gets to focus on more important issues while the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization and the overall team enhances.
