Take the No Smoking Challenge and Quit Smoking | World No Tobacco Day May 31

by Shamsul May 30, 2023

World No Tobacco Day May 31: Take the No Smoking Challenge and Quit Smoking

Every May 31 is World No Tobacco Day. No Smoking was initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO). This day focuses on the harmful effects of tobacco on human health and what actions can be taken to fight against tobacco addiction.

Tobacco is responsible for many serious diseases, such as cancers (the most frequent concerning the lungs), cardiovascular diseases, and chronic respiratory diseases. Smoking also increases the risk of osteoporosis, postoperative complications, ectopic pregnancies, and erectile dysfunction.

According to the WHO, tobacco causes more than 8 million deaths each year. More than 8 million of them are users or former users, and about 1.2 million non-smokers are involuntarily exposed to smoke.

Risk Prevention | No Smoking

The World Day focuses on the health hazards of tobacco and the anti-tobacco action led by the WHO.

The WHO established it in 1987 to raise awareness worldwide of the tobacco epidemic and its deadly effects. Smoking is indeed the largest preventable epidemic.

Tobacco are causing more than 8 million deaths each year, of which approximately 1.2 million are non-smokers involuntarily exposed to smoke.

This World, No Tobacco Day on May 31 is also an opportunity to act in companies. Many companies help their employees quit smoking. Because protecting the health of employees and, more specifically, the risk of tobacco is a major issue. Smoking represents a significant cost through “cigarette breaks” and sick leave. And protecting employees from passive smoking is part of the employer’s safety obligation.

Since February 1, 2007, it has been forbidden to smoke in places assigned to collective use, closed and covered, which constitute workplaces. The employer must enforce this prohibition.

It is also necessary to display on the premises used as a workplace an apparent sign recalling the principle of the prohibition of smoking and vaping under penalty of a fine. This signage must be affixed to building entrances, in visible places, and a visible manner.

Learn to Say No to Cigarettes | No Smoking

If you have been a smoker, you have found the resources and the means to quit smoking, and you can congratulate yourself! Do you still, even after years, have cravings? It’s normal. Indeed, especially in certain circumstances, such as parties, it is the need of time to acknowledge how to say no to someone who offers you a cigarette, and it is not always easy.

Saying no to a cigarette can be a real challenge, but it’s also an excellent opportunity to affirm your choice and your self-confidence by saying no.

Remember

Above all, remember the reasons why you quit smoking. Review your list of motivations, or make one if you’ve never written them down.

Remember that a skid does not mean you are going back to the starting point; far from it! This is not the end of your withdrawal! It allows you to learn, to know yourself better for the next time, to be stronger, and to succeed in saying no because you know that this cigarette will not bring you anything.

The Challenge of No to Take Up

For the former smoker, saying “no” when refusing a cigarette can be a real challenge. While the latter thought he was beyond the reach of a skid, he may be shaken by this offer and this temptation to say yes, which can recall moments associated with the pleasure of smoking. Others may intentionally or unknowingly minimize smoking by telling themselves that “it’s no big deal.”

Then, it is not surprising that the sight of a cigarette makes you want to smoke.

The Circumstances of The No

This observation must be taken into account when you have quit smoking. Many people relapse in the company of other smokers, especially at work, in the evening, at home, etc. Hence the importance of being well prepared to say no with established strategies to avoid a relapse or slippage in these circumstances.

Another situation is knowing how to say no to yourself in a moment of depression or blues, which would lead to resorting to cigarettes again to restore your morale, as before! On this point again, it is essential to anticipate and strengthen one’s resilience so as not to succumb.

The Importance of No | No Smoking

Knowing how to say no to a proposal to smoke will significantly impact your confidence and self-esteem. Indeed, this refusal is proof of your ability to resist the temptation to smoke, which is contrary to your deep choice and commitment to give up tobacco use. Then, it is also necessary to consider that this, non-opposed to others, is a sign of affirmation of your personality which knows what it wants and does not derogate from it. Remember that you have achieved victory and regained your freedom by quitting smoking. Ultimately, the positive feelings you will have about yourself can help you stay a non-smoker. And for this reason, you can be proud of yourself.

Strategies For Successfully Saying No To A Cigarette

Get used to automatic responses until it becomes natural when someone offers you a cigarette. Always say “No, thank you. I quit smoking.”

Avoid Passive Smoking | No Smoking

Avoid the company of smokers and avoid places where people smoke during the first weeks of smoking cessation.

If you slip up by accepting a cigarette, be kind to yourself. Remember that quitting smoking is a long road, and remember the motivations that led you to quit in the first place.

If necessary, seek outside help, such as a tobacco control organization. Think mobile apps like Kwit.

It is normal not always to know how to say no, which is not a big deal. The whole thing is not to start again the next day!

Believe in yourself! We wish you good luck in your withdrawal and remember.

To this end, the Wiselancer recommends the poster in all places,

“Prohibition of Smoking and Vaping.”

25 Bedazzle Exotic Birds Capable to Grab Your Attention

If you are an admirer of nature, it is sure to love the environment, fauna and flora. There are some exotic birds. The very description and images of these pheasants will definitely make you flabbergasted. An extraordinary blend of shades is enough to blow your mind. Check these transfixing exotic birds and choose the best one as your pet in the human-altered surrounding:

Royal Flycatcher | Exotic Birds

Exotic Birds - Royal Flycatcher

A prominent crest is an excellent sign of beauty. Male royal flycatchers have a more colorful crimson crest, whereas the yellow crest is the distinguishing feature of female flycatchers. Furthermore, the female crest is lavishly adorned with steel blue and black tips. The crests are properly displayed during violent encounters and courtship rituals.

The Atlantic Puffin

Exotic Birds

The Atlantic Puffin, or the Clown of the Ocean, is the inhabitant of the Atlantic. It spends maximum time at sea. When it is tired of flying, it takes some rest on waves. These astounding exotic birds enjoy staying on land during the summer and spring seasons. It is the time when these are busy making reproduction colonies. The Atlantic Puffin is famous for its skillful flying. It is capable of exceeding the speed of 55 miles per hour.

The Lear’s Macaw

Exotic Birds

The Lear’s Macaw or the Indigo Macaw is a large blue Brazilian parrot. Its life span is more than 50 years. Unluckily, this lovely and long-living bird is endangered as the population of this species is reduced to as low as 1300 adults. Pet trade, hunting, and habitat loss are the major reasons for Macaw endangerment. Fortunately, conservation groups are struggling to save the precious species.

Hornbill Malabar Pied | Exotic Birds

Exotic Birds

Malabar Pied Hornbill belongs to Sri Lanka and India. It is pretty effortless to recognize this exotic bird as it has large and out-of-the-ordinary horns. In India, people give importance to the horn of this bird. They believe that hanging a skull made up of Malabar Pied’s horn can make them prosperous. Unlike Lear’s Macaw, this species is not in danger. If these exotic birds are being hunted in the upcoming years, the incredible species will get extinct.

Bird of Paradise King of Saxony

Exotic Birds

King of Saxony is only one of its kind of bird. Most of the people have neither seen nor heard about this bird of paradise. When these species were introduced to Europe, people could not believe that the bird had real horns. The horns’ strange shape gives the impression that they are artificial. Furthermore, the territorial display and mating calls are also weird. It is not easy to describe its sound correctly. It is similar to a choral group of machine uproar, dubstep melody, and chainsaw revving. All these sounds are present in the chirp of this little bird.

The Bali Bird of Paradise

Exotic Birds

New Guinea Island is the habitat of this bird, but it is rare to see this bird on this island. The reason is that these exotic birds have selected the most unapproachable areas. These extraordinarily beautiful birds are acknowledged for their strange and sometimes humorous behavior. They love to hang on branches upside down.

Curl Crested Aracari | Exotic Birds

Exotic Birds

Curl Crested Aracari is a gorgeous and lovely but bizarre type of toucan. It is known as the giant bird in the family of Aracari. The strange crest having curly, glossy, short, and black feathers is the basis of its name. The natural environment of this bird is in danger due to mining. Luckily, the crested Aracari is safe and not dying out.

The Kingfishers

Exotic Birds

The kingfishers have long bills that are used to grasp the fish, then fly and beat the fish senselessly. They prefer to start their meal by eating the head of fish. Apart from violent manners, these exotic birds are present in any waterside territory, near the border of small ponds, streams, lakes, rocky coastlines, and large rivers.

The African Crowned Crane

Exotic Birds

It is pleasing to see the African Crowned Crane. It has a unique gray body along with white wings. The exotic bird may have gold, brown and white feathers. On the other hand, the head has a crown made up of narrow golden feathers. There are daring white patches on the face. The beautiful crane can be seen in the marshland of African Savannah.

The Hoopoe | Exotic Birds

Exotic Birds

The Hoopoe is available in Eurasia and Africa. Israel has selected Hoopoe as its national bird. The distinguishing crown and extraordinary chirp in the form of “oop” are the reasons for giving this name.

Capped Heron

Exotic Birds

Finding this gorgeous bird is complex, so its breed is not in danger. Capped Heron is differentiated from other species of herons as it has bare blue facial skin, a distinctive black cap, a yellow neck, and a bill base. Due to muffled feet, it is niggling to search out this solitary creature.

The Quetzal

Exotic Birds

The Quetzal lives in the mountain range of Central America. It is a marvelous bird.

Maya and Aztecs considered the Quetzal a sanctified animal named The Rare Jewel Bird of the World. The male partner has a brilliant metallic green body and a deep red chest. In addition, the long twin tail can grow up to one meter.

The California Condor | Exotic Birds

Exotic Birds

Unlike other exotic birds, the California Condor is not attractive and eye-catching. It has an impressive appearance. It is called the new world vulture and is considered the largest bird in North America, having 2.8 meters wingspans. In 2013, the number reduced to 435 worldwide, and just 237 birds could fly freely. Unfortunately, this bird is severely in danger and just wiped out in the 20th century. The credit goes to the conservation group that helped the condor to survive.

The Peacock

Exotic Birds

The Peacock is a readily available and most familiar bird worldwide. It is found in single or multiple colors. The word Peacock typically describes the male, while the Peahen is particular for females. Peafowl is the word that describes both males and females. Regarding the courtship, the female is responsible for selecting the male based on its tail size.

D’Arnaud’s Barbet

Exotic Birds

There are 42 different types of barbet and D’Arnaud is one of these species. It lives in Africa’s Sub-Saharan region. It is common for birds to make a nest on the branches of trees, but D’Arnaud’s Barbet makes nests on the ground 2 to 3 feet down in vertical tunnels.

The Northern Cardinal | Exotic Birds

Exotic Birds

The Northern Cardinal remains bright red 12 months a year. It does not migrate but makes an incredible vista in opposition to the snowy backdrop. No doubt, the bird watchers prefer to view this bird. If you are eager to have some Northern Cardinals in the backyard, make it your habit to put sunseeds as these exotic birds love to take sunseeds.

Red-Bearded Bee-Eater

Exotic Birds

Red-Bearded Bee-Eater loves to eat bees. It can consume insect-like hornets and wasps as well. The red chest and decurved long beak are the two prominent features that discriminate this bird from other species. The origin of this exotic bird is Southeast Asia’s subregion, called Indo-Malayan.

Lilac-Breasted Roller

Exotic Birds

Lilac Breasted Rollers are admired for a stunning assortment of shades, covering tan, black, green, turquoise, blue, purple, and white colors. It is noticeable that these pheasants love to carry out inspiring courtship journeys with several rolls and dives. It is the national bird of two countries, Botswana and Kenya.

The Golden Pheasant | Exotic Birds

Exotic Birds

The Chinese or Golden Pheasant is an inhabitant of Western China. The untamed population of this pheasant is present in the UK and other regions. It is simple to figure out male and female as both have prominent differences. Male pheasant has striking shades, goldcrest, and red covering the top of the head to the neck area. Side by side, the wings have a dark color and a barred long tail. Yellow eyes and small black pupils with green upper backs are male pheasants’ characteristics. On the other hand, female birds do not have bright shades. The plumage has a brown and pale color.

Inca Tern

Exotic Birds

Inca Tern is a Peruvian wonder. Male as well as a female partner has mustaches. This species has a funny face and lives close to Humboldt Current’s cold waters, where thousands of nests can be seen.

The Long-Tailed Widowbird

Currently, the long-tailed widowbird has three out-of-the-way populations, living in Southern Africa, Angola to Zambia and Kenya. Pieter Boddaert named this bird in 1783. During mating, the male shows a long tail ranging up to 15 cm to catch the female widowbird’s attention.

Splendid Fairywren

Exotic Birds

It is a typical Australian pheasant in terms of its reproduction. It is dichromatic sexually. The upper parts of the female partner have a pale brown color with a long blue tail. The male partner is almost the same but shows remarkable blue plumage when it tries to breed.

Wilson’s Bird-of-Paradise | Exotic Birds

Exotic Birds

It is a matchless exotic bird with an incredible array of shades. The female bird has a monotonous brown color, whereas the male uses a variety of colors during a complicated dance to impact the female. The turquoise on the male’s head is not made up of feathers. In fact, it is the skin. It is interesting that the female partner sits on a tree branch on top of the male, observing and assessing the show.

Horned Sungem

Exotic Birds

It is present in Eastern and Central Brazil. This lovely hummingbird lives in gallery forests, grasslands and woodlands.

The length of this little pheasant is almost 4.33 inches or the folded wallet size. The remarkable sungem shows the vibrant color arrangement of blue, white, black, yellow and green.

The Rainbow Lorikeet | Exotic Birds

Exotic Birds

The rainforests of Papua New Guinea and Australia have a great number of Rainbow lorikeets. Even these exotic birds are present in Perth City and are creating trouble.

They are aggressive toward nesting hollows and prohibit native pheasants like Australian Ringnecks from making the nest. The condition worsens when Rainbow Lorikeets drag the natives from nestlings, dropping the eggs or little exotic birds on the ground.

Maori Cultural Concepts Applied on Miraka Business

by Shamsul October 24, 2022

Maori Cultural Concepts Applied on Miraka Business

A – Maori Cultural Concepts Applied on Miraka Business

  • The Maori concept of Papatuanaka & Taonga applies to the Miraka business. Papatuanaka means soil or land, which is considered Taonga or treasure by the people of the Maori. Any company based on Maori culture will have to serve the Earth and help preserve it. The same applies to Miraka (Wrixom-Wood, 2018).
  • Putake is the reason for applying to Miraka as well, as it will have to conduct its operation based on it. The reason can be to earn profits, maintain the ecosystem, or even the preservation of a tribe or culture of the Maori. Miraka works towards the reason that promotes the culture of the Maori to international borders (Wrixon-Wood, 2018).
  • Turanga, or the business’s location, is another culture the Maori follow. This means that the lands from which Miraka operates cannot be sold and will always serve as the anchor of the business (Wrixon-Wood, 2018).
  • Tikanga refers to the ways and values to practice when doing business. Maori believes in unity, motivation, networking with fellow individuals, spirituality, etc. Miraka will have to define its values that match the culture of the Maoris and follow them (Wrixon-Wood, 2018).
  • Living up to corporate social responsibility. Because Maori culture highly supports CSR activities in business, Miraka will have to incorporate and follow them (Wrixon0Wood, 2018).

B – How Miraka Incorporates Maori Culture

Miraka uses milk from cattle produced on Maori lands, thus preserving the culture of Papatuanaga and Taonga. It exports internationally; however, its base is rooted in its lands (NZ Herald, 2013). The company also follows Maori culture and values by not taking monetary gains for the business as the ultimate source for doing business. Instead, Miraka also supports the Maori culture. They want to deliver the taste of the Maori lands and soil to international customers to promote Maori culture and services worldwide (NZ Herald, 2013).

Since all milk used by Miraka comes from the Maori lands, the Turanga concept is followed by the Company.

Miraka also involves in CSR activities through returning to its community in the form of charitable activities such as scholarships, milk funds for kids, etc. The company regularly supports its community, besides ensuring that all activities it undertakes are environment-friendly and do not harm the environment in any way (Nhein & Dong, 2014).

C – How Maori Culture Will Affect Miraka Marketing

  • Ethical Issues – Miraka’s business ethics will make the company less competitive, as it is bound to use the milk from the Maori lands and not opt for products that can cost less, as it will be from other areas. While the ethics of Miraka can prove it to be an honest organization, it will decrease its profitability and competitiveness in the market (BDO New Zealand, 2018).
  • Social Issues – Social issues of contributing back to the Maori lands will not cause any issues. However, when the company expands and does business in other regions, it will expect that they will also return to that community. If Miraka does not do that, it can suffer from reputation loss. As far as Maori land, Miraka’s established position will strengthen them and offer them extensive benefits from the outside world, besides providing them a chance to connect with them (Mika, 2018).
  • Cultural Issues – Miraka can use its cultural heritage to connect with New Zealand and offer equal chances of development to the Maoris. Since Maori culture believes in equality, everyone is provided a fair and equal opportunity, and thus, Miraka can use it as a source of promoting Miraka culture in New Zealand and abroad (Mika, 2018).

Five Sustainability Areas & Their Role in Environmental Protection

by Shamsul October 14, 2022

Five Sustainability Areas & Their Role in Environmental Protection

Broad Areas of Sustainability

Sustainability is the ability to fulfill the demands of the current generation with the help of available resources devoid of causing any issues for future generations. Sustainability is not just related to the environment; it connects with other sides covering the economy and the people. (1)

Sustainability Pillars

There are three sustainability pillars, regarded as Planet, People & Profit.

1- Planet

People use the land for agriculture. If you overuse the land, it will become unproductive for upcoming generations. Farmers need to take a few months’ breaks after harvesting their crops to maintain the soil quality.

2- People

The sustainability of people covers the welfare of workers in organizations. With the help of newly acquired skills, workers will perform useful operations. For instance, a company offers employee skill training programs on a bi-annual basis. Similarly, if the workers are given a conducive operational environment with flexible hours to work, the workers get pleased. Moreover, working in a stress-free and contented environment also improves productivity.

3- Profit

Sustainability in a thriving economy is based on properly implementing a specific set of resources so these resources can be utilized for a long duration. Furthermore, it also refers to organization growth and profit without causing any negative impact on the Planet and People (pillars of sustainability).

Environmental science and sustainability help balance an operation’s revenue and influence on the surroundings. For instance, a city has a diesel power plant that works round the clock, releases black smoke, and creates disturbing sounds. The power plant is indeed giving benefits through its continuous operations; however, air pollution and noise pollution are enough to cause long-term turmoil.

Areas of Sustainability

Sustainable development of a community works on five domains. These are profit (economic), people (socio-culture), planet (environment), Technology, and Public Policy. In case one of these pillars is overlooked, it is impossible to maintain a sustainable community.

For instance, there is a community with a set of residents with access to basic things like groceries, parks, and work opportunities; however, there are no constant communication lines for cellular phones, landlines, and internet connections. The technological domain is missing, so we cannot call it sustainable, as people do not have the opportunity to communicate with other communities and progress.

Suppose the community, as mentioned above, has abundant jobs from new companies, transportation facilities, and contented people. In that case, unluckily, the companies do not have a public policy for waste disposal. The end result will be the destruction of the community and the depletion of resources because waste is not recycled or discarded. In short, communities can progress only if all the domains work correctly.

Environmental Sustainability

Environmental sustainability relies on a highly responsive environment to evade the degradation or reduction of natural resources. Sustainability practice ensures that current requirements are carried out without putting the capability of upcoming generations to meet their necessities at risk. (2)

The natural environment can revitalize and maintain its practicality. If a tree falls, it cannot only decompose but also give nutrients to the land so seedlings can grow in the future. If nature is given a chance to survive alone, its natural rejuvenating power helps to take care of it. Human beings are liable for the use of natural resources and bringing change in the climate. It is the need of the hour that human beings apply the methods of environmental sustainability so that natural resources can be used in the upcoming years.

Environment Activism

Environmental activism covers a wide range of individuals and organizations operating in conservational, social, political, and scientific fields to address Environmental issues. These organizations and individuals are part of the green movement; however, they do not have a political agenda or affiliation. (3)

Environmental activism shares the same ideology of finding practical solutions to environmental issues. Ecological activists can belong to any profession that works to save the environment. Environmentalism is based on three approaches. These are

  • Changed Focused Activism
  • Solution Driven Activism
  • Revolutionary Activism

Sustainability

Sustainability is the capacity for human civilization and the Biosphere of Earth to co-exist. (4) Sustainability is related to unified societal, economic, and environmental domains. In 2015, UN sustainable development goals were presented. These goals were applicable to save the beautiful planet, end poverty, and make sure through worldwide efforts that people will have prosperity and peaceful life.

All nations admire the 2030 agenda, and they are committed to working to end AIDS, hunger, poverty, and unfairness against girls and women. The SDG goals (higher education, hunger, poverty, gender equality, sanitation, well-being, economic growth, affordable energy, sustainable cities, peace, justice, responsible consumption, and climate action) need to achieve by bringing together media, businesses, governments, local NGO’s and higher education institutions to perk up the standard of living till the year 2030.

Social Issues

In order to develop sustainable cities, a procedure based on social sustainability is required that can endorse well-being by considering the requirements of people living and working in certain places. (5) Social sustainability joins the physical realm design with the social world design.

If you overlook the requirements of employees in organizations and people living in the community, our actions negatively impact sustainability. It is the reason the UN sets up SDG goals, and every country is dedicated to dealing with social issues such as (8.1)

  • Poverty and derivation
  • Safety issues & Crime
  • Segregation and inequality
  • Substandard lifestyle
  • Social exclusion
  • Unfair labor price
  • Youth unemployment

In sequence to solve these issues, governments and employers should focus on the rights of employees, such as treating employees well, giving them fair pay for their work, flexible hours to work, skill development, provision of safety equipment, health benefits, and friendly work environment without any harassment. Treating workers fairly will make the employees loyal and give long-term benefits to the company as well.

Communities should provide equal employment opportunities without bias to sort out social issues. When equal opportunities are available without barriers, the quality of life improves. And you can achieve real social sustainability.

Urban Planning

Urban planning is based on recognizing, examining and proposing strategic and technical solutions to resolve environmental and socio-economic confronts of human settlement. (8) Urban growth is a fundamental tendency revealed through a severe increase in cities population and unrestrained urban spread out. As a result, many urban problems come into sight, like energy and food supply, sustainable transportation services, and social and technical infrastructure. In the case of extensive urbanization, complicated worldwide trends like climate change, resource exhaustion, pollution, and economic transformations are induced. To maintain the quality of urban life, government commences urban planning by covering different disciplines, such as Environmental Science, transportation, engineering, architecture, biology, material science, finance, accounting, government, and economic development. Practical and ground-breaking innovations are part of this urban planning.

Sustainable land and urban planning play a vital role in the welfare of communities and people. Environmental-friendly planning helps shape urban areas into highly efficient and healthier spaces. Transportation, wind and solar energy sources, open spaces, greenways, mixed-used developments, green housing, and buildings are some of the sustainable solutions to urban planning issues.

Regional Planning

Patrick Geddes introduced the very conception of regional planning. He presented a synoptic idea of folk, work, and place to show the association between socio-cultural and economic welfare. With the beginning of cultured settlement, regional policies and plans are intact. Nowadays, regional plans are propagated for metropolitan areas as well. The flourishing accomplishment of regional plans can be examined in Chicago, New York, Paris, and London, as all these states have gained great benefits from their past efforts related to regional planning and Environment impact assessment. (9)

Effectual regional planning is required when facing economic and social inequities and environmental degradation. For managing and monitoring data, highly powerful latest tools (visioning computer-based simulation and geographic information system) will help overcome obstacles to valuable regional planning. Still, these tools are not the alternative to political will, imaginative planning, and conformity to how future regions will be.

Environment (10)

The environment is the gift of nature that supports nurturing eco-friendly life on this planet. An Environment covers non-living and living things like water, soil, plants, and animals which acclimatize themselves according to their surroundings. An ecosystem includes all non-living and living things within the environment. The ecosystem is the base of the Biosphere that defines the environmental health on Earth.

Environmental Consultant

Companies are eager to upgrade the positive impact on the environment. Therefore, they get the support of an environmental consultant to address basic environmental issues like air quality, soil contamination, waste management, and water pollution.

Environmental consultant serves businesses and private and public industries and offers sustainable solutions concerning public works, health compliance, property acquisition, safety regulations, energy efficiency, infrastructure, construction, and many more.

How Does Canada Overcome Climate Change Issues?

The environment is negatively influenced when sustainability measures are not followed. The same thing happened in Canada when the excessive emission of gases brought severe climate changes. In order to protect the Canadian environment, authorities passed an act to fight against air pollutants. (10.1)

The Canadian government has proscribed the development of new power plants based on coal just to handle the greenhouse gas discharge. Environmental law is in action concerning the low automobile emission and effective use of fuel.

To fulfill energy requirements, Canada depends on coal mines. Still, the country is conscious of climate change issues. Since 2001, the government has passed 965$ million for projects related to soil quality, climate change, water quality, and air quality.

Sustainability Initiatives

For environment and planet health, businesses must pay attention to green initiatives relevant to employees, products, and workspace. Every society knows sustainable life is possible if the planet is healthy and green. It is the reason; almost 1.3 billion Environmentaljobs rely on the ecosystems of Earth. (11)

Going Green Concept

These days, the going green concept has gained recognition. It refers to wise decisions that each and every person can make to maintain a healthy environment. It is related to overcoming waste and contributing to preserving the Earth’s habitat and natural resources. Eco-friendly products and green initiatives have a positive long-term impact on the land. Every business and household can play its part by

  • Getting a list of Green Things
  • Buying eco-friendly manufacturing goods
  • Selecting new Energy Sources
  • Selecting energy-saving plumbing systems and appliances
  • Appropriate discard of biodegradable products
  • Purchasing eco-friendly products
  • Choosing organic food
  • Reducing paper use in workplaces
  • Buying green clean-up items

The Reward of Green Initiatives

  • Economic Gain

Upgradable energy sources decrease the consumption of energy and consequently low electricity charges. Even many states incentivize people and industries to develop green buildings and homes.

  • Health Benefits

Going green is the best sustainability initiative to reduce environmental toxins and pollutants. As a result, clean air is available for breathing.

  • Environmental Advantage

An eco-friendly environment depends on the sensible choices of human beings. Responsible use of land, organic farming, and sustainable habitat help overcome gas emissions and less air pollution.

  • Brand Benefits

If a brand states that its products are environmentally friendly, then people prefer to use them. When emotional gains are involved, brands get a positive comeback from customers.

Effects of Global Warming and Climate Change

Global Warming

What is global warming? The increase of temperature around the globe is called global warming. It can be because of some artificial or natural conditions. Human activities are mainly involved in it. A long time ago, only natural conditions were the cause of global warming, but now artificial conditions are playing a significant role in global warming.

Causes of Global Warming:

There are so many causes of global warming, but the major ones are described here.

1. Variation in the intensity of the sun causes global warming.

2. Industrial activities cause fossil fuel burning, which releases carbon dioxide, and thus the temperature increases.

3. Agricultural activity causes global warming because organic and commercial fertilizers produce nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas.

4. Deforestation causes global warming because trees play an essential role in maintaining the temperature.

5. The feedback loop of the earth when the atmosphere becomes warm gives rise to global warming.

Effects of Global Warming:

Effects of global warming include hotter temperatures, severe storms, increased droughts, rising sea levels, loss of species, lack of food, displacement and poverty, more exposure to health risks, and many more.

Global Warming Statistics:

As everyone knows, the earth’s temperature is rising daily, which is not an assumption. There are some statistics which show how much the temperature is rising. According to the NOAA’s Annual report about global warming, it is stated that the combined ocean and land temperature has increased since 1880 at an average rate of 0.008 degrees Celsius per decade. However, since 1981, the average increase rate has been greater than twice that rate. The world is now facing the warmest years as the new year starts, the temperature rises. The amount of increasing temperature depends on the emission of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. If the temperature continues to rise at the same rate and decreases as planned by projects, still, the atmosphere will be warmer.

Global Temperature:

The temperature of the world is called global temperature. The global temperature is rising with the passage of time because of so many reasons. There are so many processes that are involved in the rise of temperature. It takes a lot of energy to increase the temperature of the earth to a slight extent. The increase in temperature is thus also disturbing energy maintenance. The energy is already in less amount and then it is being used for rising temperature. Both things are not suitable for our society. Heat energy is being used for this process. The industrial revolution played a significant role in global temperature as the industries gave rise to the pollutants which are released into the atmosphere. These pollutants then interfere with the environment and increase the earth’s temperature.

The snow and ice covers are getting reduced. Changing the ranges of habitats for animals or plants, extreme temperatures, heavy rainfalls, and so many other things are getting shrunk because of changes in global temperature. The difference between the lowest and highest temperatures is almost 55 degrees Celsius. The temperature varies around the globe in days and night. In the world, there are some extremely hot areas and some extremely cold areas. While in between, some areas remain hot in summers and cold in winters. The average temperature is different at different locations. But scientists derived a formula to measure the average temperature of the globe.

Environmental Challenges:

Our environment is facing so many problems, and they are called environmental challenges. Environmental challenges are because of so many issues which humans mostly create. The environment is a big part of our society. If the environment is not correct, living a happy and good life here is impossible. The environmental challenges are given below.

Pollution:

Pollution is of different types i.e. water pollution, land pollution, air pollution, and noise pollution. All these kinds of pollution are a threat to our society’s environment. Pollution is due to toxins that are released into our environment.

Global Warming:

The emission of greenhouse gases as a result of human activities is called global warming. Global warming can lead to many issues.

Overpopulation:

Our society is facing lack of resources like energy, water, food, etc. So, the population should be maintained according to resources, but the population is increasing day by day, which leads to an extreme shortage of resources.

Waste Disposal:

A significant amount of waste is being produced and thrown into oceans. This waste disposal seriously threatens the environment as it causes the death of many water bodies.

Ocean Acidification:

The ocean acidity level rises when humans produce more carbon dioxide, which negatively impacts marine life.

Ozone Layer Depletion:

There is a layer of ozone in our atmosphere, and it is made from oxygen atoms. CFCs deplete this layer in the air. Ozone depletion can cause skin diseases, especially skin cancers.

Loss of Biodiversity:

There is a diversity of life found on earth. The loss of biodiversity because of so many changes in the environment is a threat.

Deforestation:

Cutting down trees is called deforestation. Deforestation causes the rise of temperature, which increase the global temperature.

Health Issues:

Clean water is not easily available nowadays because of the discharge of waste in the water. Water pollution leads to health issues for the public.

Acid Rain:

The pollutants in the atmosphere make the rain acidic which is harmful for everything on earth as it changes the normal working.

Climate Change:

The change in the climate is occurring because of all environmental problems. The change in climate takes place over a long time. It is not easy to change the climate, but due to serious environmental issues, now the climate is changing very fast. Climate changes because of human activities and the burning of fossil fuels. Global warming, greenhouse gases, and many other factors are the causes of climate change. Effects of climate change are seen on different levels. UNFCCC is also working for the betterment of the climate.

Environmental Problems:

The environmental problems and environmental challenges are almost the same. The environment is suffering from so many issues, and it is very important to solve them so that the possibility of life on this planet can increase. Environmental problems can be solved by reducing harmful human activities.

Climate Change Statistics:

The climate of the earth is changing day by day, and it is not a random saying, but it is said after some calculations. The earth’s temperature has increased almost by 0.08 degrees Celsius over the past forty years. This rise in temperature is twice greater than what happened in the past decade.

The second warmest year was 2020, according to the NOAA’s calculations. The earth’s surface’s temperature rises, which is done by utilizing lots of energy. There are poles on earth, and the temperature or climate is different on each pole. Multiple types of research are done on this topic, and they come out with different results. The rise in temperature is the same in all types of research. The change in climate was not that rapid in the past, but now it is becoming fast because there is a revolution in all things. Industrialization and the use of technology are harmful to the climate because people are getting lazy and they are trying to harm nature.

A climate activist, Greta Thunberg, challenged the world’s leaders to take sudden actions about the changing climate. She said the mass rally in Glasgow, the COP26 climate summit, has failed. She said that the leader of the world had COPs 26, and where has that got us?

Climate is an essential part of our environment, and changes in it cannot be ignored so easily.

The Gulf stream is basically a strong ocean current that brings the warm water from the Gulf of Mexico into the Atlantic Ocean. Gulf stream collapse climate change can occur, and it will have harmful effects on the weather of the world. It will result in a mass shortage of food in Africa. It will cause the temperature to get cold in Europe, and storms will get stronger. Rainfall across south America, west Africa, and India will be disrupted. Climate scientists have warned that if climate change is not controlled, the gulf stream will collapse, and the results will be severe.

Conclusion:

Climate change is done due by global warming and greenhouse gases mainly. There should be a reduction in human activities which cause danger to the climate or a threat to the environment. The climate should be kept positive and more trees should be planted. The trees plantation can remove greenhouse gases and global warming effects. Global warming can cause the death of so many species. These things can lead to many social issues too. If you want your generations to live on earth, then play your part by keeping your surroundings clean. Don’t burn fossil fuels and save energy.
