Scrumptious Palak Puri Perfect for Weekend Breakfast

In the winter season, weekend breakfast is usually a bit heavy. Unlike the summer, cravings for delicious things get more intense in cold weather. It is why mums search for elegant meal ideas to make the weekend special for the family. If you love vegetables, spinach and spicy potato dish with crispy puri are enough to bring variation. Crunchy and fresh spinach is used to make delicious palak puri. Here is an easy-to-cook recipe that anyone can try at home.

Palak 3 cups or 100 grams roughly chopped spinach

Boiling water – 3 cups

Cold water – 2 cups

Ginger (chopped) 1 inch

1 green chili – chopped

Whole wheat flour – 2 cups 

carom seeds (ajwain) – ½ teaspoon 

Asafoetida (hing) – 1 pinch

¼ cup water or add as required

Cooking oil for deep frying

  • First of all, clean and wash out the spinach leaves with salt.
  • Add coriander leaves, green chili, ginger, garlic, and spinach to a grinder.
  • Put in fennel seeds, red chili powder, coriander powder, heng, cumin, and garam masala as well.
  • Grind all the required ingredients to get a smooth paste. 
  • Add oil, ajwain, salt, sooji (coarse wheat), besan (chickpea flour), and wheat flour. Mix the spinach paste as well. Knead the paste to make dough. Keep it aside for ten minutes.
  • Make small size roundels with this dough.
  • Roll these puris and fry in hot oil. Keep on frying till the puris get crispy. 
  • It is suggested to serve the crispy puris with potato curry.
