Ingredients:

2 tbsp vegetable oil

14-ounce canned tomatoes

1 large onion, chopped

2 garlic cloves, crushed

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp white vinegar

3 tbsp clear honey

1 tsp mustard powder

½ tsp mild chili powder or chili seasoning

Salt and black pepper

Preparation Method:

Take a saucepan and heat the oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and crushed garlic until soft.

Add all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer, for about 20 minutes without covering the pan, keep stirring occasionally. Now make it cool slightly.

Pour into a food processor or blender or and run until it is finely smooth.

Press the sauce through a sieve if you prefer smoother barbecue sauce and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as per your taste before serving.

Variation:

If you want a really rich, spicy chili flavor, add a small red chili, seeded and chopped instead of the chili seasoning.
