1- Mont Saint-Michel, France

This year marks a thousand years since construction began on this impressive Gothic-style Benedictine abbey, the Wonder of the West and one of the Amazing Places in the world.
Perched on a rocky promontory that juts out from the bay, the building seems straight out of a fairy tale, hence the nickname that hangs over it. Furthermore, at this point, the coast, between French Brittany and Normandy, is one of the places where the tide has the longest travel in all of Europe – almost 15 meters between high tide and low tide. You can easily walk across the sand to the abbey during low tide.
The abbey took 500 years to complete, but it continued attracting pilgrims worldwide when it was finally completed. The fact is that although its construction is in itself an architectural marvel, the unique symbiosis that occurs between rock and water is also added, which makes it an aesthetic genius of architecture with natural beauty unique in the entire continent.
2- Perito Moreno Glacier, Argentina
When explaining the choice of this tourist destination in Calafate, province of Santa Cruz, Millar maintained that after the world’s got attention on Argentina for winning the Soccer World Cup, “it is important not to forget that Messi is not the only wonder of this country.”
According to the expert Perito Moreno, the Los Glaciares National Park is reputed to be the most beautiful glacier on the planet. Its enormous masses of turquoise ice, which almost reach sixty meters in height, occupy about 260 square kms of the southern region of Patagonia.
This place emanates a natural and wild power, you will appreciate if you go to an area with good views or go by boat to its walls. Where you can hear the deep sound of the ice cracking while enormous icebergs separate and float in the deep blue waters of Lake Argentino. It is fascinating to watch them drift, shining like cut crystals, reflecting the sunlight with whimsical shapes and colors, small compared to the ice giant from which they come.
Perito Moreno is one of the natural places you must visit at least once in your life.
3- Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia
The city of Al-Ula has enormous historical and cultural relevance, but until very recently, it was a place that only some people had heard of, much less visited.
This changed since the end of 2022, when it was officially opened to tourism, allowing you to see first-hand this historical place of the Arab world is more than 200,000 years old.
Although much of Al-Ula remains undiscovered since. It is estimated that approximately 5% of this site in the northwest desert of Saudi Arabia has been excavated. It is within the archaeological area of Hegra, the 1st place declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in Saudi Arabia. This place is known primarily for its elaborate and monumental tombs carved into the reddish rock.
In the pre-Islamic ruins of the ancient city, you can see mud houses that blend with the earthy tones of the desert. The archaeological remains, such as carved stones, are avaiable everywhere, which makes this place an open-air museum.
However, everything is not ruined. There is also entertainment and gastronomy; nearby restaurants include Maraya Social, by chef Jason Atherton, whose emblematic restaurant Pollen got a Michelin star in its opening year.
4- Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Bhutan
This monastery was built next to a cave. As said, the Guru Rinpoche, one of the founders of Buddhism in this region have meditated in the 8th century.
At the end of 2022, the long-awaited restoration of the Sacred Route of Bhutan, the country’s main road, 403 kilometers from Haa in the west to Trashigang in the east open for traffic.
While the country itself is one of the world’s great wonders, surrounded by some of the highest mountains in the world and with its incredible cultural wealth, the Tiger’s Nest Monastery – also known as Taktsang – is a special place even for this environment. The complex of four Buddhist temples and homes is on the edge of a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley.
Furthermore, its whitewashed walls, deep red roofs, and golden domes seem suspended in an almost unreal delicate balance.
5- Cappadocia, Türkiye
Visitors can stay in boutique hotels in some of the ancient caves in Cappadocia.
This year marks 100 years since the end of the Ottoman Empire, which gave way to modern Turkey. This country has a unique cultural and historical wealth between Europe and Asia, and it is also home to one of the great wonders of our time: Cappadocia.
This expanse of enormous rock columns, called “fairy chimneys,” seems otherworldly. With their red and ocher stripes and shapes sculpted by the wind, they make up one of the strangest landscapes on the planet.
The story goes that around the year 1200 BC., some people began to carve the rock to make houses inside these natural towers. The result was not simply rudimentary caverns: Cappadocia’s cave houses are really work of art, with elaborate facades, doors and windows, and stairs made from the formations’ rock. It is an authentic city excavated underground.
There are even beautiful boutique hotels in some of these ancient caves, and you can book fascinating experiences such as balloon rides over the valley and routes through the vineyards from which the local sweet wine comes.
6- Lake District National Park, United Kingdom
National Park is the highest peak in the Lake District, England, Scafell Pike. It is one of the Amazing Places in the world.
The writer and walker Alfred Wainwright, author of the guide to the Coast to Coast Walk, well known in the United Kingdom, called this extensive route that connects the east and west coasts of the north of England “one of the best walks in the world.”
It is 306 kilometers of road cover from the Sea of Iris to Robin Hood’s Bay in the North Sea. It is the most appreciated long-distance path in the country, and although it has points to enjoy, the most impressive section is the one that crosses the Lake District.
This national park is full of true wonders, including Lake Windermere, the spectacular Stock Ghyll Force waterfall, and the highest peak in England, Scafell Pike, which stands out among the plains and lakes at 978 meters.
Walking along its paths is to feel first-hand the sensations that inspired artists such as the poet William Wordsworth and the writer and illustrator Beatrix Potter.
7- The Sardine Migration, South Africa
It is one of the most impressive ocean events in the world. Every year, millions of sardines move north along the South African coast between May and July. The banks measure more than seven kilometers, and the movement of the water is so intense but visitors can see from the air.
But sardines are only part of the wonder. Behind them are pods of orcas, white sharks, and many other predators that group them so that they are easier to catch. It is a romantic underwater spectacle, and those who dare to go for a diving or snorkeling experience can dive in and see it from the front row.
At this point, it is worth clarifying that predators usually focus on sardines. They call it the Blue Serengeti, one of the most amazing underwater experiences on the planet.
