Salesforce Dynamic Forms – A New Standard Lightning Component

 

Salesforce dynamic forms are in use for transforming static data entry into an intuitive experience. Users can easily configure the record detail fields and sections within Lightning App Builder with these forms. 

This is available with a new standard Lightning component referred to as ‘Field Component.’ Different components can be included on the page. Moreover, You can add selected fields to sections along with the application of the filter, if required.

Through Dynamic Forms, the visibility filter is applicable over field and field sections, and its combine with filter logic.

Easy to Set up and Maintain for Admin:

Salesforce makes a transition to Dynamic Forms from the current layout with a quick start wizard on the Lightning Page. In addition to this, using Dynamic Forms tends to reduce maintenance as the user can consolidate multiple page layouts into a single Lightning Page, reducing admin time and effort. With the flexible Lightning page assignment model, the admin can easily assign pages to different users or groups of users based upon the criteria like the Record Type, Salesforce App, and the User Profile. This feature offers greater flexibility than what was available previously in determining privacy settings as to who should see what version of the page.

Though dynamic forms are available with the new version available this year. However, there are additional plans to incorporate enhancements within this feature in the future. Enhancements include:

Being compatible with Smartphone devices

Offering support to standard objects.

Dynamic, quick actions.

Create an Engaging Customized Layout

The page structure has now attained greater flexibility than ever before using Dynamic Forms. The user can set up pages by using one of the 16 standard templates with controlling designs. Through this structure, you can create pages up to 6 columns which were previously two columns only. 

In addition, you can include layout customization to improve page performance and navigation. In this way, you can build a customized and engaging layout that allows the user to navigate the page from side to side and top to bottom. Customized options for page layout include page Sections with Labels, Tabs, and a dropdown Accordion structure. A bonus in using Tabs and Accordion is that it drastically improves the page’s loading time.

Reduce the number of page layouts required by using component visibility rules and leveraging a single assignment model for the Lightning page instead of the dual-mode of assigning both on the page layout and the Lightning page.  

How to Enable Dynamic Forms:

So as to enable dynamic forms, start with editing the Lightning record page. With this, the Lightning App Builder will open from where you select the Record Detail component, after which click over Upgrade Now button. After this, a wizard will display, followed for migrating all fields to the dynamic forms. An optional feature is selecting enabling migrating fields and sections them in Accordion components or enhancing the new page’s performance. 

One Way Ticket:

Downgrading it to the classic version is impossible as soon as the Lightning page is applicable to Salesforce Dynamic Forms. However, users can delete the Accordion or Field Section component and add the back “Record Detail” component, which uses the classic page layout.
