Human Actions Depends On Seven Causes | The Philosopher Aristotle

Human Actions:

1- Why do we sleep? 2- Why do we eat? 3- Why do we shiver from the cold? 4- Why do we scrape the side of the car on the gate? 5- Why do we forget to lock the door? 6- Why do we curse the referee?

7- Why do we vote for the National Assembilies or Senate? 8- Why do we defend an idea? 9- Why do we kiss? 10- Why do we give up? 11- Why do we persevere?

Apparently, it is not a single cause that leads us to all of this.

The philosopher Aristotle (384-322 BC) offers useful considerations on what drives us to act. It is good to know his thoughts on the “seven causes of human actions.” He says:

All human actions stem from external causes or causes that are specific to them.

All human actions

Among those that come from external causes, some are the result of chance, others of necessity; in turn, actions that are done out of necessity stem from coercion or nature.

Therefore, all actions of men from external causes depend, some on chance, others on nature, others on coercion. Actions that stem from coercion occur contrary to the desire or reason of man, even if they occur through him.

All human actions born from causes specific to us, that is, of which we are the direct authors, are partly due to habit and partly to a tendency that can be premeditated or unreflective.

Will is a tendency towards good, as everyone wants what they consider good; as for unreflective tendencies, these are anger and desire.

All Human Actions are Therefore Necessarily linked to the Following Seven Causes:

External causes for humans:

Chance

Nature

Coercion

Causes within humans:

Reflective:

Habit

Willful decision

What will be

Desire

And why do we kiss? Why do we curse? Why do we pray?
