Sindhi Fried Fish is a flavorful, spiced fish dish from the Sindhi cuisine, known for its crispy texture and aromatic spices. To make it, fresh fish fillets—often white fish or pomfret—are marinated in a blend of spices like turmeric, red chili powder, coriander, and cumin, along with ginger, garlic, and a dash of lemon juice for tanginess. The fish is then coated in a thin layer of gram flour or rice flour, which helps achieve a golden, crispy crust when fried.

After allowing the fish to marinate for 20-30 minutes, shallow fry the pieces in hot oil until they’re crisp and golden on the outside, yet tender inside. Serve this Sindhi delicacy with green chutney or sliced onions for a zesty side, making it a perfect appetizer or main course with a touch of traditional Sindhi flavor.

Sindhi fried Fish is a special dish of Sindh Province of Pakistan. It is delicious and crispy marinated in local spices, deep fried and served with green salad and chutney varieties.

Ingredients:

Sweetwater fish, 2.5 kg

Dried red chilies, crushed, 2 tbsp

Coriander seeds, crushed, 4 tbsp

White cumin seeds, crushed, 2 tbsp

Lemon, 1

Salt, to taste

Cooking oil, for frying

Preparation Method:

Wash the fish thoroughly and cut into pieces. Mix chilies, cumin seeds, coriander seeds and salt in lemon juice and make a paste. Rub this paste on the fish pieces and leave for the marinade for 2 hours.

Heat the oil in a wok and fry the fish for 7-10 minutes each side or until turns golden.  If you want it spicy, sprinkle the fish masala on it.

Sindhi Fried Fish is ready; serve with vegetable salad and chutney.
