Date Rice Dessert is a simple dessert recipe. The combination of Rice and dates creates a unique dessert recipe. The sweet Rice and Date arrangement also makes it healthier. Try this in your kitchen; all family members will love this dessert recipe.

Serve hot, topped with chilled fresh orange segments or drained canned mandarins.

Ingredients:

Pudding rice, 50 g

Milk, 600 ml

Margarine or butter, 15 g

Pressed date, chopped, 50 g

Orange grated zest, 1

Melted margarine for greasing

Preparation Method:

Heat the oven to 150 C. Brush the oven proof pie dish with melted margarine.

Put the rice, milk, and margarine into a saucepan. When, it reache to the boiling point, then remove it from the heat. Stir in the dates and orange zest. Pour into the prepared oven-proof pie dish and place the dish on a baking sheet.

Bake in the oven for about 2 hours or until the rice is tender and most of the milk has been absorbed.

Time:

Preparation 20 minutes and cooking time is 2 hours.

Variations:

You can use favorite dried fruits, such as raisins or sultanas, for some or all of the dates. For added flavor, grate a little nutmeg over the top.

Serve hot, topped with chilled fresh orange segments or drained canned mandarins.
