Chickpea curry is a delicious and nutritious dish packed with protein, fiber, and rich flavors. Made with tender chickpeas simmered in a fragrant blend of tomatoes, onions, garlic, and warming spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric, this hearty curry is both comforting and satisfying. In Pakistan and Indian Punjab Areas, they called it Cholay Salan or Chana Salan. It is one of the most popular recipes in the area. Chickpea Curry

Ingredients:

Check pea ½ kg (boiled)

Red chili, 1 tbsp

Salt as taste

1 tbsp whole coriander

Paprika powder, 1 tbsp

Cinnamon, 2-3

Turmeric powder, 1 tbsp

Whole cumin, 1 tbsp

Bay leaf, 2-3

Whole black pepper, 1 tbsp

Green cardamom, 4-5

Cloves, 6-7

Ginger powder, 1 tbsp

Garlic powder, 1tbsp

Fried onion, 2 medium-sized

Yogurt, ½ cup

Fresh coriander for garnishing

Oil for cooking

Chickpea Curry

Preparation Method:

In a pot add soaked chickpea.

Then add baking powder.

Boil it until chickpeas are soft.

In a blender, add yogurt and fried onion. Blend it till the mixture becomes a paste.

In a deep cooking pot add oil and heat on a medium-low flame.

Add 1 tablespoon of garlic powder. Then add the prepared paste to it.

In a grinder, add leaves and dry ingredients except for green cardamom, bay leaves, cloves, and cinnamon.

Grind it well till it comes in powder form.

Take out in the bowl add bay leaves, cinnamon, green cardamom, and cloves.

Mix it well and pour it into the cooking pot.

Combine well add chickpeas and cover it cook it for 10 minutes.

In another frying pan add 2 tbsp of oil and 1tbsp of the prepared powder mixture.

Fry it till the color changes.

Give a tarka on chickpeas.

Garnish it with fresh coriander leaves.

Cholay Salan is ready.

Serve Chickpea curry with lachha paratha or Nan.
