How To Be Productive By Working from Home

Working from home has its own set of challenges. Whether you are self-employed or simply a fan of teleworking, it is your responsibility to carry out the work for which you are mandated. In order to carry out your mandates, here are our tips for remaining productive.

Create A To-Do List | Working from Home

One of the initial things you can do to increase your productivity is to create a to-do list. The list can be used for different occasions to organize daily, weekly or monthly tasks. It can be written by hand, on the computer, in black and white, or in color. Whatever your method, you will have an overview of the work and be more motivated to do it. In addition, you will feel crazy well-being by drawing a long line on each task completed. On the other hand, to avoid discouragement at the end of the day, be realistic and commit to only a few tasks at a time.

Divide Your Big Projects into Smaller Tasks

As we mentioned earlier, keep going. If one of your tasks seems impossible, it must be tackled in the right way. How? Eating your elephant in one bite at a time, i.e., dividing your task into smaller tasks. For example, you have training to organize but need to know where to start. Divide the organization into smaller tasks: booking the room, advertising, printing training materials, etc. To make sure you remember everything, collect all these tasks in the form of a list!

An essential and best coordination tool for the self-employed is Google Drive. Creative teams prefer it.

Set Deadlines | Working from Home

Adding a due date for each task is a good idea if your list contains weekly or monthly tasks. Including the less important things that you keep putting off. For what? To create a sense of urgency, which will push you to finish your work. Remember that if you don’t complete these tasks immediately, more will be added, hurting your productivity. You become more available and better prepared to deal with real emergencies by meeting deadlines.

Complete the Hardest Task First

Start your day on the right foot; starting with the most difficult (or most horrible) task is recommended. Is it accounting? Writing a service offer? Or telephone contact with your customers? Even if this idea puts you off, remember that the best is yet to come once this task is crossed off your list. You can finally get down to much more exciting tasks. And the good news in all of this is that you have enough energy left to perform them.

Using the Pomodoro Technique | Working from Home

Do you know the Pomodoro technique? This method, developed by Italian entrepreneur Francesco Cirillo, is used to take breaks between periods of intensive work. Each work interval, called a “pomodoro,” comprises twenty-five minutes of work taking a five-minute break. During these breaks, you can take the opportunity to stretch or do anything that requires little mental effort. After four pomodoros, take a longer break, 15 to 30 minutes. This method is effective, provided distractions are avoided during intensive periods of work.

Reduce Distractions | Working from Home

Working from home is motivating, especially since no one can tell you what to do. You can go out whenever you want and check your social networks anytime. However, that’s going to make you less productive. You must avoid all possible distractions: television, emails, household chores, etc. Also, if you have loved ones at home, tell them not to disturb you during working hours. To facilitate the boundary between family life and professional life, find yourself a suitable workspace, preferably a closed room.

Exercise Regularly Or A Walk

Exercise regularly or go for a walk if you don’t have exercise equipment. In addition to increasing your productivity, physical activity has several benefits. It also increases your energy level and improves your cardiovascular health, but also your mental health. Whatever type of physical activity you practice (walking, jogging, swimming, etc.) strengthens your immune system, reducing the risk of a cold or the flu. And since you’ll be healthier, you’ll need to take fewer sick days and stay productive.

Reward You | Working from Home

Another way to motivate yourself is to add a reward after a certain number of completed tasks. After all, you’ve worked hard to get through your list and deserve it! The reward doesn’t have to be expensive. It could be a swim in your backyard pool or an episode of your favorite Netflix series. The important thing is to treat yourself once in a while. On the other hand, if you have just completed an important mandate, you can afford a reward of the same magnitude. Why not take a vacation?
