Do You Dream About Your Ex?

Do you often dream of your ex? Here’s why I mention it, I’m interested in the meaning of dreams and the psychology behind our relationships.

First of all, let me tell you something clear, dreaming about your ex does not mean systematically saying that you love him again. Well, that’s what I said, passion for serious things.

Here are 6 reasons why you might dream of your ex.

1- Because Your Relationship Was Abusive:

If your ex made you suffer from physical or psychological violence, it is possible that you may continue to dream of these traumas, even months or years later.

According to Deirdre Barrett, a researcher on dreams at Harvard University: “Those people who have suffered a trauma, as it were, are often the source of post-traumatic comas”.

If these traumas make you experience other symptoms related to posttraumatic stress syndrome such as negative thoughts, a detachment from loved ones and a carefree attitude, it is strongly recommended to talk to a psychologist, psychiatrist or specialist in traumatology.

2- Because You Feel Alone | Your Ex

It is absolutely normal to repeat unconsciousness in moments when you do feel alone. This doesn’t mean that you want to get back with your ex. It’s simply your brain that keeps you in this period that has brought you a lot at the relational and emotional level.

3- Because You Haven’t Yet Gotten Over Someone Else:

If you always have the same dream about a good moment with your ex, this might be a sign that you’re not You have not forgotten that you have not made your decision on this relation.

In contrast, people who have passed on to another chose «not necessarily ceasing to dream of their ex, but rather having a mixture of themes», explains Barrett. The dreams will be somewhat banal, somewhat positive, somewhat negative.

4- Because You Are Not Satisfied with Your Current Relationship:

1- This can be translated as wanting to get back with your ex;

2- You don’t want to get back with your ex but at the same time, you get bored of some of the things you enjoy about yourself.

3- You notice that the negative patterns of your old relationship are repeated in your current relationship.

5- Because Your Unconscious Is Sending a Message to You:

As explained by Jennifer Freed, a psychotherapist in a private office.” Because your ex was a manipulator and because you continue to dream about him. That part of you continues to mistreat and be unnecessarily cruel?

You can consider every dream as a portal towards more self-compassion and fulfillment, she added.

Noting these dreams on paper or in conversation with a therapist/psychologist can help you better understand them and potentially help you.

6- Because You Have Your Ex and Chose Another:

Even if your feelings toward your ex have largely dissipated, you can still alternate between more positive and more negative dreams at times.
